School Cleaning The Last Thing That Should Be Neglected

Posted on May 16, 2016January 10, 2021

Cleaning services

If any one place should be cleaner than any other — excepting medical facilities — it’s probably a school. School cleaning is remarkably important simply because of the people who work and learn there. Children, and in particular young children, are more susceptible to disease than adults. And teachers have a limited amount of sick leave as it is, and often lack the ability to take off of work whenever they get sick School cleaning isn’t simply about protecting people from infection and illness, although that’s certainly the principle concern at hand. It’s also about creating a clean, safe environment for teachers and students — who are, after all, just trying to learn! There’s a lot that goes into school cleaning, including picking the right janitorial services. So to understand a bit more about what goes into the care and keeping of school, let’s look dive in to school cleaning.

School Cleaning: Why It’s So Important

The truth is that many parents take for granted that their children will be safe and healthy at school. This, unfortunately, is not always the case. Many kids are exposed to a variety of infectious diseases at school. Of course, infection is not the only thing they need to worry about. School is also a breeding ground for parasitic insects such as lice. If one child in school ends up with lice, it’s easily transmitted. The right school cleaning service, however, can cut down on the communicable nature of viruses and parasites. This is more important now than ever, with many parents willingly choosing not to vaccinate their children. This puts kids with compromised immune systems at risk, and at the very least can send a large number of children home sick and compromise their education. The fact is that there are a myriad of reasons why keeping a school clean is valuable. Even a school that simply looks dirty gives a bad impression to parents and officials. A child should be undistracted when at school; he or she should be able to learn and flourish in a clean environment. School cleaning services are the key to that.

Where School Cleaning Needs To Focus

The first place school cleaning services need to focus on may not be immediately obvious. That is the desk. At school and at workplaces, the desk is typically where the most germs are communicated. In fact, a dirty desk can host as much as 400 times the amount of bacteria as a toilet seat. That doesn’t mean that we shouldn’t pay attention to the amount of bacteria in school bathrooms, however. There is plenty of that to go around, and the only way school bathrooms can be kept clean is through multiple cleaning sessions throughout the day. Locker rooms are also places that communicate a lot of bacteria, due to their stuffy, warm environment. Another area that is host to diseases and bacteria is the gym. This may not be the first place you think of, but the reasoning becomes obvious quickly. The gym is where students sweat and play. It’s often warm, and if an accident is going to happen — like a scraped knee — it will happen in the gym. School cleaning services must pay attention to gyms.

Keeping Schools Clear of Chemicals

One final thing to think about: as important as it is to keep schools clean, you shouldn’t have to worry about chemical agents while doing so. Chemical cleaning products can make indoor air 100 times more polluted than outdoor air. Of the 17,000 petrochemicals available for home use, only 30% have been tested for how they affect humans and the environment. School cleaning services must use as many natural products as possible. A school, of all places, should not be exposed to chemicals that could harm young children.

With the right school cleaning services in place, parents should be able to rest easy and know that their kids are receiving the best possible care and education.
