How Can I Prevent Slips And Falls At My Workplace?

Posted on November 10, 2016January 7, 2021

Commercial floor sweepers

Worried about workplace safety and cleanliness? It’s time to hire sweepers. Commercial floor scrubbers are professionals dedicated to keeping buildings and work spaces as hazard-free as possible, eliminating grime, dirt and anything that could contribute to a debilitating fall. When a fall can seriously injury an employee and cost businesses thousands of extra dollars every year, it’s time to be proactive and seek out a floor scrubber rental to nip potential accidents in the bud.

Injuries And Falls

Did you know the year 2011 alone saw five workplace injuries for every 100 full-time warehouse workers? That’s not even taking into account similar industries in food, distribution and repair. Studies have shown employees in grocery stores, warehouses and establishments that center around meat are at a particularly high risk for slip and fall injuries — this number is actually 75% greater than the average rate. Overall, slips and falls are responsible for more than 95 million lost work days on a yearly basis.

Bacteria And Health

Slips and falls can cause serious damage to people’s backs, knees and hips. They account for around 25% of all reported injury claims every year, despite most of these being easily prevented by the skill sets of sweepers. But it doesn’t end there. Not only do floor scrubbers offer ways of reducing slippery floors, they can eliminate harmful bacteria that likes to make its home in wet, dirty environments. The common cold and influenza regularly see workers taking multiple days, even weeks, off from work during the fall and winter seasons.

General Safety

A little goes a long way and nowhere is that more clear than safety measures. A stunning 98% of all respondents who attended a recent American Society Of Safety Engineers show (shortened to ASSE) said that they have regularly seen workers not wearing safety equipment, such as goggles or gloves, when they should have been. When adding up slippery floors and dropped food, it’s not hard to see why so many accidents happen.

Hiring Industrial Floor Sweepers

When it comes down to it, a good floor is the foundation for a job well done. Likewise, a poorly managed floor can put everyone at risk for injuries, illnesses and financial hardship. Industrial floor sweepers can do everything from get rid of dust and pollen to eliminating floods, leaks and discarded food. When the warehousing and storage industry experiences nearly 15,000 injuries and illnesses every year, it’s in your hands to curb this trend and create a safer environment for all!
